Wondering if someone could tell me the proper way to inch your car forward. ie if you're at a red light and you need to move up. when you inch aren't you slipping the clutch since only some of the power is going to the wheels? Is there a way to do it so its not so hard on the flywheel/clutch plate? Thanks.
when i want to inch forward, I just slip my clutch unless i'm going uphill. even then you can slip your clutch w/o stalling. no harm done. not recommended to hold car still on a hill by slipping your clutch. if i'm on a extreme grade hill i'll give gas a bit while slipping the clutch to move forward.
only way to inch forward is to slip you clutch a bit. slipping your clutch while idling/standing won't wear your clutch much. All this was taken into account during the engineering of your ride. don't worry about it. unless you reving to the thousands then slipping your clutch, all this is negotiable lol. bottom line don't worry about prematurly wearing out your clutch b/c your slipping your clutch to inch forward at the light.
oh i see. if you rev it turns the flywheel much faster, therefore spinning harder against your clutch plate, thus wearing it. but just slipping it when idle is so slow its not too bad. Thanks again!
yep, just regulate speed by slipping the clutch a bit...nothing else you can really do. For the time it's slipping, it's not going to do much to wear the disc.

doing this will not hurt the clutch bad enough to have to replace it. starting out in 3rd 4th or 5th gear would though
