new to honda
I just bought an 89 civic dx hatchback, was wondering what i could do to it to get a lil more out of it, keep in mind its just a winter rat possibly to become an everyday driver for the summer, so i can let the real car enjoy the garage. it is bone stock with 150k on it, runs great, just need some pointers guys, cheap easy mods thats all.
Thanks
with 150k on it I would look into a cheap swap like a D16Z6 or a B18B
I'd definately look into the z6 swap. They are cheap enough and good enough to have some fun with. Also if buying a swap, it would be simple enough to swap pistons with other oem pistons for higher CR, add a mild cam and you have a very fun setup for ballpark $1k. Add a homemade intake using 2.5" piping from either www.kteller.com or www.jcwhitney.com, an inexpensive dc sports header and a cat-back from a local muffler shop and you have a nice fun ride without breaking the bank.
a slightly cheaper option would be to get the jdm d15b swap for about $435. A lot of people seem to be happy with that setup. http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30019 . rebuild the motor using oem parts before you drop it in and you should be very happy with it for your daily driver.
