thanks!
i have become enamored with these wheels:
i think the period wheels are key here.... if you get more modern wheels, they look out of place on an older car. these wheels will give the OEM look while giving me actual rims and not steelies. it will also keep the unsprung weight down while still keeping the "class" look.... if only they didn't say "acura"...
and if i don't want to display acura, i could get these and just get Honda centercaps:

fat 5's are 15", not 14. Unless you are talking about a different year.
What does everyone think of LS mesh on an eg8? Im probably going to get egvtec's and polish the lip and spray the spokes gunmetal.

is it pointless to do a header if you aren't going to do exhaust and intake?
what if you are going to do just intake? is the header completely negated by a stock exhaust or just not helped?

eg8 is the chassis code for 92-95 civic SEDANS. If anyone calls a hatch an eg, and its USDM, they are only lying to themselves. USDM 5th gen hatches are eh2, and eh3.
Spoon is a japanese company catering to honda only. Very high quality, very high priced.

i think i'm going to stick with my stock exhaust...
i checked out all these exhausts and they add minimal power, and only at the 8k rpm range...
http://www.tprmag.com/issue/3/3_exhausts.shtml
that and the two exhausts i'd most want (for their quiet), the apexi WS and the RS-R, are only made for the coupe and hatch, not sedan...
if thats all they're going to do i'll save myself the $600 and spend it on what i need: struts & springs!

yeah lots of people just get Honda caps from the Si rims, or the new EX rims and put them into the hub hole. personally i just run my rims without the caps, i think it looks better that way. those '96s, yeah i love those rims too. you might search around some more and see if you can find a pic of those with the lug cover (that big round thing that says Acura) removed, they look f'in sweet like that! i've actually been debating whether or not i want to get those exact rims for my own sedan for a long time, but i think i'm just going to stick with my HXs.
oh and for your question on the exhaust, you really do need to get an exhaust somewhere down the line. yeah they only offer like a 5 hp increase at the most, and some can get really expensive, but your stock exhaust will restrict the hell out of your motor swap, so if you want to get the most out of it you'll need to get a better flowing exhaust. what you might try to do is just get a good universal muffler and get custom piping done. that's actually what my set up is, and i'm happy with it. or at least, i will be happy once i actually get the piping done. i paid about $70 for my muffler, and i've been quoted as high as $75 to get mandrel bent 2.25" piping custom made for my car. $145 for a full cat-back exhaust ain't bad. if you're interested in going that route, there's lots of posts about it all over these forums.
intake wise, you could just get a K&N drop-in filter and remove the resonator box assembly if you don't want to spring for a full intake. intakes won't give much power either, but anything you can do to help your motor breathe better will be beneficial on even a DX motor.
one more thing, you should probably start investing in good oil and stuff like that. i just recently switched over to synthetic oil and my car runs a lot better now than it did when i was on the dino juice. yeah synthetic oil is pretty damn expensive, but i think it's worth the cost for the added protection on my internal parts, as well as how much easier my engine runs now. you might also want to think about using Sea Foam or Chem Tool to clean all the deposits out of your engine. there's a huge post about that right here in the Civic Non-Tech forum, i actually learned how to use Sea Foam thanks to that post, and it's also helped my car run a lot better in its old age.
oh, have you looked into lights at all? if you're just going to keep the stock headlamps, i recommend you try a pair of Silvannia Silverstar H4s. they're $20 each, which might sound like a lot, but if you're not going to go HID (ask commador about that, he's our resident HID Retrofit geek! ), Silverstars are the best halogen bulbs i've ever seen. lots of people talk about the MTEC bulbs too, and i noticed the new GE NightHawks a few weeks ago, but i don't have any personal experience with any of those. and if you're looking into fog lights, i suggest anything made by Raybrig, especially if you can get your hands on a set of R1000s for cheap. failing that, CATZ is also a good company that i recommend.

now we'll just narrow it between the b16a2 (170 hp/112 torque) and the b18c1 (180 hp/129 torque). both are relatively cheap, and according to every resource i can find, a straight swap, save for 3 wires that are required to "turn on" the vtec...

Do not go B16... you will be highly disapointed when you get dusted big time by a B18C1 car... I have owned every B16 I have come across & non were ever close to me. Get the USDM B18C1 reather than the JDM B18C due to the fact than the lower compression makes better for nitrous or boost on stock internals. B16s are over-rated. The spec may look close but the difference is night & day. I would only recomend B16 if it was the only thing in your price range

i had an exhaust and intake question i posed in the engine and tech forums but got no response (does anyone who is technically inclined post in there? i see a whole bunch of questions but no answers...)
anyway, my question is will the b18c1 i get in the mail from whatever tuner bolt right up to my stock headers & exhaust? i realize that down the road i should upgrade these, but if i don't have the funds now, can i run with my stock setup?
same question for the air.... do the swap motors come with intakes? airboxes? no? can i use my stocker? do i have to buy an intake? where can i find intakes for hybrid cars? do i then do a search for intakes for acuras or civics?
see my dilemma? i don't see much in the way of FAQs on this topic anywhere on this site..
