Painting/smoking your tailights..

o.k., here we go

buy some transluscent candy apple red(or black if you wanna smoke 'em) spray paint for like $5 a can, go to pep boys, it's kinda hard to find if you don't have a pep boys , it HAS to be transluscent or the light won't shine through it

and then get your tails (if you want all red except for the reverse light box, use your OEM 96-98 tails, if you want 1/2 white 1/2 red, you're gonna have to buy some whited out illegal 96-00 tails off ebay or somewhere , or you can get all CLEAR and do it, or you can get some euro gen 1 altezzas like i did )

clean them off really well, then dry them really well, go into your garage, or an enclosed area you don't want leaves and bugs and shit to fly up into them on to the wet paint

next, tape off (with PAINTER'S TAPE, so the paint doesn't bleed into any area you don't want it to ) all the areas you DON'T want to paint (for all red tails: the reverse light, the top half/for 1/2 red 1/2 white:, tape off the bottom half including the blinkers AND the reverse light)

next, spray LIGHT coats of red paint onto them so it doesn't run. wait like 15 min. in between each coat, if you're spraying over the amber, do like 4-5 coats, if you're spraying over clear or whited out light, do like 6 coats you don't want it to light up pink at night, haha

then wait til it dries, then spray a few LIGHT coats of clear coat onto it

then wait like overnight to make sure the paint is all set, take off the tape, and install them and marvel at your own magnificence
you're done! YAY!
