rust in spark plug boots.

Hey, I changed my spark plugs on my 03 civic EX and noticed that i have rust on the walls in the tube leading down to my spark plug...

engine has 54k on it and is pampered like there is no tomorrow, so i cant think of why there would be rust in there...

is this natural? im not a crazy car person so i dont know alot about cars, but i know enough. i just need some help.

is there a way to fix the problem? or is it not bad?

btw, BOSCH platinum FUSIONS kick ass! i used to get 38 to 40 MPG, now i get 46. dont know why, but its nice.

Youre gettin water in there somehow to cause the rust, so make sure the coil packs are nice and tight. On another note, ditch the Bosch's. They make a shitty product. Pay a couple bucks more and get Denso's or NGK's.

well, the stock ones were Denso's and they were ok.

how do i make sure everything fits tight?

on 2 of the spark plugs there was a pop when i pulled the thing out... like a suction cup i guess... on the 2 with rust... nothing... they came right out with no effort.

Try taking the coil packs that are rusted and put them in the same spot, but this time press down hard to ensure a good seal. Now try to pull them off, do they seem to seal better?

If not, take a coil pack from the NON rusted and put it in hard. Does it make the "pop" noise when you remove it that time?
Let us know.

ok, on the ones that didnt rust, when i put em in, there was a popping as i took em out of the rusty holes.

the ones that had rust on the walls had something in common: the spring thingy that touches the top of the spark plug looked kinda bent to the side. like, if u take the back off ur remote control and took ur battery out, that spring thing that connects to the battery is what it resembles.

that help any?
