shaved head

threw a rod through the block (got a hole about the size of a quarter in the block, 3 in the oil pan) the head looks ok, but i'm going to take it to a shop and have them clean it up and inspect it.If it is useable, mabye i'll have them shave it down a little bit. which brings me to my next question. If i have my head shaved, what changes if any,will i need to make to my valve train,etc.? shorter valves, stiffer springs,that sort of shit.

if it has never been cut before you wont have to do anything. if it was cut once i think you could still get away with doing it one more time (it depends on how much it was cut the first time). anyways, the machine shop should be able to tell you if its reusable or not. the only mod you can do is maybe a thicker headgasket.
