The intake will still fit but the header will not.

Newer car or swap?
I have a 96 EX coupe right now that I really like. It's not in the greatest shape, has 300k on it and needs a little body work done. I haven't modded it much except for some KYB AGX's, polyurethane bushings in the front, and a short shifter. I have about $6K saved up and was wondering what you guys think I should do with it? Should I get a swap and bodywork? Or should I save some more and get a 00 Si? Right now I have about a 120 mi/day commute right now which will only last a few more months, but this car is still going to need to be a dependable daily driver.

That's kinda what I'm thinking, but I have already done the front suspension, and if I swapped in a new engine/tranny(B-series?), it would be mostly new. It does need a new airbag control module(SRS light), which Honda told me was about $700. But to even get close to a 2000 Si I am going to need to double my cash to get something without very many miles. I appreciate the input...More Please!
You could find another civic with low miles and swap that for cheaper than a nice em1. There are tons of things that wear out on a car in addition to the motor and suspension (interior, paint, body rigidity, wheel bearings, brake calipers, bushings, etc).

Should I look for something that has already been swapped? I am comfortable doing a lot of things, but I don't want to do the swap myself. Do you think I could get a lower mileage 96-00 coupe and a swap for under $9K?I just put in new rotors in the front, and new bearings last year, interior is in pretty good shape. Paint definitely needs help. I am working at an auto parts distributor and can get parts pretty cheap right now, so fixing up some of the little things might not be too bad. But I see what you mean about all the little things that age too. The main thing I am looking for is reliability, with the ability to still have fun driving my commute and cruising on weekends. Thanks for the quick answer.
It can easily be done with $9k. I've seen ej8s with under 100k miles for $3.5-4k and a gsr swap would run $3-4k (so $6.5-8k total). You can also find coupes that are already swapped for as cheap as $5k but it all depends if you trust their work. A correctly swapped civic is just as reliable as a stock one.
Just bought a '99 DX Hatch automatic transmission. It's got 140k on the Odometer. Owned by an older gentlemen, meticulous about changing the oil.
Interior is clean, as is the exterior. I'm satisfied with the purchase. Would obviously be more enthusiastic if it was a manual tranny, but overall I think it was a smart buy.
I plan to use it as a daily driver, and although it already gets great gas mileage, I'm certainly open to suggestions on any higher mileage modifications.
Any objections to the purchase? Bad buy? Flames? Feedback? Any problems I should try and address now?
I thought it was a little high considering the mileage, but I'm much happier with this car than what I was previously driving ('93 LX Civic Sedan) that ended up shitting the bed in a big way.
Any problems I should be looking into considering the number of miles on the Odo? The man I purchased it from has all the paperwork on tires/rotations and oil changes, but nothing on any serious service work. The tranny feels smooth, but I read that the auto transmissions on these cars tends to get shady at high mileage.

I found a 97 lude w/ 125k on it. He is asking $3500. It has a salvage title from hail damage. You can see a bunch of the dents in the roof. The hood and trunk have been painted flat black, and I can't see any hail dents on them. The hood has a decent dent in the front and there is another one by the right rear taillight. The gap is also off on the bumper. It is quite a bit bigger by the right rear wheel well on the side of the dent. It has some aftermarket wheels, but he has the stock ones and will give it to me cheaper with them on it. Do you guys think it would be a good idea or not?
