Not much difference in performance. K&N is oiled (less often cleaning, slightly difficult) and AEM is dryflow (more often cleaning but easier).

I got the AEM short ram intake, and somebody told me that if I wrap it in that foil heat shield wrap that it will help keep hot air out of the intake...

Is this true???

I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX 2dr coupe and am lookin for a muffler/exhaust system

I've found some cheap exhaust systems on ebay like this one

eBay Motors: Honda Civic 01-05 2/4Dr 4.5" N1 Muffler Catback Exhaust (item 250275710230 end time Aug-03-08 11:04:49 PDT)

and am wondering what you think i should get...My price range is anywhere below 120$ for a muffler or full exhaust system...

I'm a car newbie so help me out here =D

You can't get anything good for that price. Even that ebay crap is $155 after shipping. Save your money and just take your muffler off until you can afford to buy a decent used setup ($2-300).

youre gonna need to spend wayyy more than that bro. but on the topic of exhausts, what do you guys think of Megan Racing Drift Spec for my 98 ex?

i dont want it to be too loud, but i dont want to have to rev it to near redline to be able to tell i have an aftermarket exhaust

I have a guy that wants to trade me a 91 Civic Hatch for my stock 95 4Runner.
Here are the specs on the 91 Civic Hatch:

Carpet is gutted, All plastics still intact
4spd LSD Quaiff Tranny
D16Z6 about 77,000-80,000 miles : Car has 72,000
Megan Headers
Full Skunk2 Exhaust with Skunk2 test pipe
Rear converted to disc break from integra
AEM FPR
Fujisu Cold Air Intake
Full Skunk2 coil over suspension with coil over suspension conversion in rear
Welded Roll bar with Door bars
NRG steering wheel with NRG Quick Release Hub

Let me know if I am getting a good deal here. The 4Runner is only worth about $5000 on KBB. But I don't want to get ripped off either.

push button start

So I have been thinking for a while about everybodies problem with push button start. So what I have been thinking is that instead of using the cheap push button start that you have to turn your key to use, instead use a keypad immobilizer to turn power on the car then use the s2k push button starter to actually start the vehicle. Yes I know lots will say transporter 2. the reason I have been thinking of this is because of a bitch ex has a key to my car. Anyways I was thinking that you still could use the key but relocate it to a hidden spot for emergencies. I am developing the wiring diagram for this but figured I'd ask the honda folks. Now another idea that I don't mind sharing is to wire your sunroof, power folding mirrors, windows corner lights, side marker lights to all respond to an alarm. windows go up when the alarm is armed, the sunroof close when armed and all lights blink, also the power folding mirrors close when armed then open when unarmed. what do you think, hows the cool factor/uniqueness

K&N cai or AEM cai for 96 civic HX

AEM Cold Air Induction systems deliver maximum performance gains through all aluminum, mandrel bent tubing, tuned in both length and diameter. All systems are finished in a Zirconia based powder coating to reduce heat penetration which can not be achieved with other finishes. The AEM Cold Air Induction system has been known to provide most applications with a substantial horsepower increase throughout the bandwith. Cold Air Intake fits 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 Honda Civic

i like the idea, but i think my idea is slightly more achieveable. they sell relays that can do that soft of thing, you could just have one of your auxiliary buttons wired to do what you want and yeah it wouldnt be as sweet and automatic as your method, but i think its more feasable and im sure youd find a time when you might want to set your alarm without your car doing 5 other things.

Hey guys I'm new to modding civics. A have a friend that is willing to sell me his 2000 coupe with a b16 head and a gsr head for $1000. It needs a little work: needs new v-tec controller and some body work(bumpers are all ghetto spray painted). The engine is in good condition with about 50k on it. Any opinions?

sounds almost too good to be true. $1,000? as in ONE THOUSAND? the heads alone could sell for that much. if its true, and running, get it. i was told that if you can pay a small amount for a car and get even a years use out of it youve more than got your moneys worth.
