I would only buy ebay turbos and other big ticket items if I know who the seller was, however, that just me.

you couldn't pay me to put that on my car (unless it was enough for me to get a swap afterwards). I'd never trust one of those kits.

Buy or no?

Hello, I recently came across a 1989 civic lx for sale. It has 150k miles automatic interior is mint and outside is mint to with a small spot of rust above the left rear wheel. It's only 500$ cash and I was thinking, Is it worth buying and fixing up? If so any ideas as to what I should start with?

oh, and the guy says the transmission slips a tad bit. But, This guy I know can get me a master rebuild kit or something for the tranny with new Friction and & Steel clutch plates, gaskets & seals, o-rings & sealing rings. I was also wondering, is it hard to install air filters, headers, and exhaust.. Provieded I have the proper tools? I don't have that much experience with working on cars but buying a cheap car and rebuilding it has always been one of those things that i've wanted to do. Thanks for your time.

**Update** If I do get this car here is a list of some of the mods I would get:
AEM Cold Air Intake
Skunk 2 Exhaust system
Bosal Headers
New AEM Break pads
AEM Performance Pulley
The repair manual
Spyder Tail Lights
Autometer Tach
60 amp alternator
Plat 4 spark plugs
New K&N Oil Filter

My friend told me to get most of that stuff, comes out to around 1500ish with shipping. I could probably have that by next week.

I guess if you want it then buy it. It's pretty old and an A/T so I would only use it for a beater if it was my car. I wouldn't get half of those mods since they're a waste of money and ricey to me.

i found a K&N Typhoon ait intake. ill post the link below, but i want to know if it is good for the price, and if there is anything else out there that is better, but not rediculously expensive.

i have an 03 civic EX 1.7, 4 spd auto.

i want to getter better gas milage (not that 400 miles on half a tank isnt good :-P), and i want my ride to sound awsome. im not into racing, but i love going fast, on the open road.

also, if anyone can point me to any headers or exhaust, or anything u think might help, email me at poopflingr1@aol.com

mail order tires - rants & raves

Please provide your comments if you've used any of the below:

www.wheelguyz.com
www.discounttiredirect.com
www.edgeracing.com
www.tirerack.com
www.wheelsboutique.com
www.wheelsnext.com

Have I missed anyone ?

I'm still just shopping but I like EdgeRacing because their website is easy to use and they list the wheel weights. Their FLIK line looks pretty good, lightweight and cheap but I've seen comments on other forums that suggest shipping delay issues. Please share your experience.
