Thx for the advice... I decided against using this new guy...
He wanted me to put a deposit down for the parts before fixing my car.
It makes no sense since he'll have my car in his shop.

I also noticed the driver front spring to be a lil softer than the front pass spring so i'll probably need to do springs and shocks, and i'm not sure if the car after its fixed will be the same again.

Everything else on the car is well maintained, ie i'd trust it if i needed to road trip before the accident.

Any other opinions out there as to if i should keep this car or just send it to the salvage yard?

thanks

Tokico D-Spec???

I can't find anything anywhere about these. No one evidently wants to talk about them. Anway anybody have them or know anything about them? Opinions? Good? Bad? They're on the way to my house so it's a done deal anyway, just looking for some insight. They're going with Skunk2 springs, wheels are 215/45/17, camber kit is a must I know. Thanks!

here's my give and take:

Im lookin at test pipes on ebay.

Im using b18c in a 96 ex., if that affects length than tell me. ive read 13" on one site, and all the ones on ebay are saying 16 3/8, even for integras. will that fit my civic? i dont want to make the wrong choice. a guy with an integra bought the same length pipe and he said it was 1 inch too short. it was literally the same pipe, just advertised for the integra.

so hopefully i achive the nice suction noise which'll be good, but yeh so wat u guys reckon? thanks in advance aye.

man, for awhile you could get a holly airmass for 250 shipped on ebay, magnaflow should be ok. Autotecnica, ive seen them in JC Whitney, they look kinda cheap, I'd say go with something else, some people here say OBX is good?

I think a lot of RSX engine parts will work on your car, or even better, i think you can do a JDM RSX engine swap if your willing to drop the money.

I say swap. you will want to swap later anyways.

if your looking for budget swap, swap to b18b dohc non-vtec integra engine, you can upgrade to vtec later, ditching the ac and ps, throwing on a lightweight flywheel, and some cams, youll be pretty happy for untill you go vtec.
you can get a b16a for your app for like $1600, id say shipping around $400?
http://www.jhpusa.com/catalog/produc...products_id=44
if you know how to drop an engine in (if you dont, theres whole books and websites dedicated to it), a swap might be cheaper than paying someone else to rebuild for you, but if you know how, its cheaper to rebuild.

rebuild: it really depends on whos doing the rebuild, I dont know how much they cost and i dont know how hard they are, but it really doesn seem worth it unless youre strapped for cash and you can do it yourself or get it done at cost of parts.

Did you win it? thats a pretty good deal if the car is in good condition.

Looking to buy a 97' Civic with 115,000 miles on it.

The guy i am buying it from says he got it at 94k and doesn't know if the belt/pump was replaced. I would assume at 115k they must have been replaced to keep the car running. Other question is there any way to tell if the belt has been replaced? Think I should buy this car for 4 grand?

If there are no records you ALWAYS assume that it has not been done and you can use that as a bargaining tool. Say it's going to be ~$500 to do the timing belt, water pump, coolant etc and hack off that much from his asking price.

When youre saying water pump, are you saying to replace the water pump or check it or what?

dude, heres what id do, go to ebay, or a junkyard (whoever has the rear cover cheaper) make sure you get all the brackets, clips, and crap you need. do the bolt on work yourself, take it to a body shop. that should knock a few hundered off the work.

Most people replace the water pump when they do the timing belt and tensioner. And yes, if they want $3000 for it say that you can only assume the belt has not been changed and say you can't pay full price. Tell them if they can find no documentation you can only give them $2500.
