Those things have been discussed thousands of times on many forums and are universally considered a complete joke. Most of the claims & even the supposed "science" behind the technology is either misleading and in some cases totally fabricated. When those are held up against actual laws of physics of airflow and combustion they are shown up as bunk.

Thanks for saving me the money and trouble. It looks like a good idea, but I will trust the advice of the experts.

I don't claim to be an expert or anything, but I've read & talked alot with those who are. Although that particular auction is funny, they toss around a bunch of generic terms that say basically nothing and never even describe any characteristics of the product being sold. Just mumbo-jumbo designed to snare people who don't understand how boost works. Also some glaring misinformation right in the description, by stating that "superchargers increase decrease intake temperatures" which is the complete opposite of the truth. Compressing air raises the temps which is why intercoolers are used to try to bring temps back down. I bet that think might generate up to 2psi at idle, once you reved up it would just be an obstruction in your intake tract.

Sometimes the dyno results are on an engine where the electrical 'compressor' is powered by an external power source....pure BS.
Soon as the alternator is supplying the power to the electric motor and taking into account driveline losses...you'd be lucky to net a half whp .

Depends on what chassis you are putting them on. 195/50 is close to stock diameter for a 92-95 Civic, 205/50 is closer to stock for 96-00.

Of course you have a stock chassis, we all do but that in itself is not important it's that the 96-up speedo is calibrated for larger tires than the 92-95. Your name indicates you have a 97 so you would want the 205's anyways, and even then you will be slightly smaller overall diameter than stock size.

"Chassis" refers in general to the entire platform the car is built on, so that you can't change. It's the combined suspension system, unitized frame/underbody structure, etc.

That falls in line pretty close to Edmund's "True Market Value" for the year/model. But I'd still offer them $6000 even just to try for the best deal possible. Depends on body condition too.
