Lightbulb smokey dip

ok i drove my car a lot harder than normal for the first time... so after i shut my engine i went to check immediately if i still have oil(i don't know why i did that) and to my surprise a puff of smoke came out when i pulled it out, and then i opened the oil cap and little smoke left

i'm wondering is there suppose to be smoke? ( i never check when i drive it softly, so i don't know is it a normal thing)

So, what was the oil level when you checked? It's not a surprise having a little smoke when the engine is real hot right after you drive hard. Your crankcase is filled with blowby gasses, oil mist, etc. It's why you have a valve cover breather, PCV valve, and breather box on back of the block to suck that stuff out. When you shut the car down you have no more vacuum to pull the last bit out. However if it's excessive it could be a sign you are low on oil. The less oil you have, the hotter and dirtier the oil gets.

Anyways you can't get an accurate reading of your oil level immediately after shutting the car off, the oil is all over inside the engine so what is in the pan is not everything in the motor. You gotta wait a while or until the motor's cold.

Heavier weight oil will make it run a little rougher, particularly at low rpm and at startup. I ran some straight Valvoline 50 Racing one time, man my engine was struggling to pump it except winding out at high rpms it was smoother and quieter
