Im used to driving my moms car around, and I noticed something about my honda the last couple of weeks. When Im sitting at a stop light with my air on, the steering wheel shakes. It also shakes alittle when sitting in nutral but not as much as when the air is on. But it seems the rpms rev up then down. Also my car Idles at less than 500 rpm which seems kinda strange to me. Anyway if I give it alittle gas and it goes above 1000 rpm the shaking stops. Is this bad? Is it the start of something bad? I bought my car from carmax and have a warranty on it, so I want to take care of this if a prolbem before the warranty expires. And if it is a prolbem that needs attention, what should I tell the people at carmax (what the prolbem is tranny, engine...).
Also I wanted to find out here first because I installed my cold air intake, and Ill probably have to install the old air if there is a prolbem so I dont void the warranty. Or do you think that they will care that I put the cold air intake on it? Maybe someone here works for a car lot and knows if I should take the cold air intake out.
No I don't think it's bad. When you turn your AC on, it robs the engine of power in turn decreasing the RPM's at idle causing it to shake more. It COULD be a problem with the motor mounts or something but I don't think it's serious. I mean...is it shaking A LOT or what? And yes you should take out the CAI if you take it in for warranty work
well after my car warms up it idels around 500 - 750. I was just worried about the steering wheel shake. How much hp would you say the air conditioner takes away when on?
BTW CRXtc that evo 7 looks sweet. I love those cars they look amazing. Are you getting yours when they start being sold in the U.S? I thought they were coming here soon but im not sure.

ideal idle is around 700 or so. There isn't like a set amount of hp it takes it just puts a lot of parasitic drag on the motor and makes it sluggish. When you are accelerating next time with your AC on...turn it off while accelerating and you should feel a difference

I don't know.. I thought it was only if they found the problem to be directly related to an aftermarket part on your car (e.g. CAI) that it would void your warranty.. I had mine lowered on ground controls with KYB AGX's, a DC Sports short shifter, GReddy Evo exhaust, and an AEM CAI, and I spun a rod bearing.. The warranty covered everything, nothing was said at all.. I only paid the $50 deductible and a few bucks for a new oil filter, haha..
