Hey everyone, I need a little help. I ran through a big puddle a while ago and got the usual dirty water on my belts and pullies, well I had the resulting squeeling sound and thought I had taken care of it. I remembered that my dad once had the same poblem and the dealer told him to shoot his belts and pullies with a pressure washer and let them dry. So I went to my dealer and they said the same thing. So here I am pressure washing my pullies making sure not to hit anything else. Sure enough, it works, no squeeling noises. But the next morning I go to start her up, and now I have this odd clicking noise that won't go away, I looked everthing over, and can't see any visual problems. The car accellerates and performs like it used to, there's just this clicking noise that I can't figure out, is it possible there's dirt somewere else now? Is alternator going, could it be something with the A/C compressor, the power steering? I'm taking the car to the dealer on monday, I've been screwed by them before and don't want it to happen again, that's why I try to do as much maintence as possible on my own. Anyone have any bright Ideas on helping me diagnose the problem? I know I can fix it myself, but I just can't figure out what the problem is in the first place.
Please, humor me....

Hmm it rained again, the squeel is back now and the ticking is still there, the noise is comming from the lower rear driver's side of the engine bay I'm thinking it's dirt or something on the belts. They seem to tight and like I said, there's no difference in performance. The ticking increases with engine speed. I think I'm going to try the pressure washer thing again.

Are you 100% sure it isn't coming from the block near the belts? could just be a bad bearing on the #1 rod? You could always take your belts off and put them back on, it would be a major pain in the ass but it could solve the problem...
