Honda recomends the Honda MTL which works well. 10W-40 motor oil in a pinch, gear oil is to think for a Honda manual tranny.

do not use anything GM on this trans.

do not use any engine oil anymore since the newest honda manual trans fluid(MTF) came out. (but like said, in a pinch you gotta do what you gotta do)

gear oil is too thick like said, it's for say...passport rear diff or s2000 rear diff.

only use honda mtf from the dealer. it's about $8 a qt, get two (or three if you think you might spill refilling it) and thank me later. the shifts are smoother, grinding goes down if it can...just give it about 10 miles of stop and go traffic to really work it's magic(10 miles of lots of shiftings).

if they try and sell you the mtf with a RED cap on it, tell them you need the new stuff for your 2007 accord v6 6 speed with the WHITE cap.

He knows his stuff, just replaced the Redline MTL I put in 30k ago, was geting stiff shifts. 10 miles with the New Honda MTF WHITE CAP and it is like a new tranny!
