When do I need to change my timing belt?

I bought my 99 Civic EX in January with 109k on it. The dealership couldnt tell me if the belt has ever been changed. The owners manual says to change every 60K?? Im at about 117K right now. Does it really need to be done every 60K miles? My 92 accord was 90 thousand. I probably should change it just for piece of mind. Is there any place to get everything you need as a kit for a reasonable price?

on sohc engines i always went 100k before changing

60k is recommended, when they come up with that number they are fairly certain customers will not see any timing belt failures using one for 60k miles.

if i were you i would pull your timing cover and see if the belt looks original or worn

if there is any doubt that it has been changed just go ahead and do it, they are not that hard to change.

they dont worry about it again until your over 200k miles (if you change it)

I'm at 176,000 and I'm on my original timing belt and water pump

given I am changing them out this Wednesday when I do my head gasket, but they are original at 176,000 miles.
