Wierd Check Engine Light
It all started Friday,I was getting off of work and as I was about to get on the freeway, boom, the light came on.I pulled over to see if it was something obvious, checked under the hood, and nothing.Turned the car back on and the light turned off.Thought maybe it was something loose.Well 3 days go by with no CEL, and Monday morning as I get off of work,BOOM again..As I was in a furious rage I stopped at y nearby AutoZone to check the code.Turned the car off and walked in.Guy came out with his reader and says to me,"You dont have a CEL on" I was like WTF??? SO,it stayed off until today, mofo turned on AGAIN!! Turned the car off and turned iton again and it went away. What could be some causes of this? Any ideas would be great.Wanna try everything my skill level can accomplish before I give up an go with a mechanic.
keep a paper clip in your car and pull the code next time it shows up.
bingo

I'd say yes if the check engine light came on as soon as you started the car. When the light is intermittent, a lot of time the problem is in the wiring or a connector somewhere. But it could still be the o2.

The light doesn't come on as soon as I start the car, it comes on as I drive it for probably 1-2 days.I did have to extend the o2 from the stock position down to where my Cat is in front. But I did that about 1 year ago,and it was a brand new O2 at the time.Maybe a wire got loose,I will have to check it.Thanks a bunch guys

I'm guessing you'll find your problem there. Seen a few modified o2 wires causing problems lately.

Swapped out the 02 today.Worked like a charm no more engine light.Jeez I wonder what I would do without you guys I more question,if I run the Diagnostics code thing with the paper clip is the engine light supposd to stay solid which means everything is ok?
