go 2.25 if your not keeping resonators in it . if you go 2.5 you will lose top end. at least thats what i always found with my exhausts. but back in those days i was more impressed by noise rather than power.

i would say stick with the 2.25, imo . i had 2.5 on my 99gs and didnt like it . it was custom cat back 2.5 in with a weapon R muffler , and i didnt like the power increase( decrease), i had the stock cat on too and it was helle loud.
that resonator will tone it down a little, and help for back pressue . that is the key . . . . . back pressure.

if u have just the basic bolt-ons, then i'd stay with 2.25 piping. the muffler and tip also influences the noise factor. i have 2.5 inch piping and opted to have a free flowing resonator put in to minimize decibel levels.
hey randy man ? do you live around like pa or nj or something , your car looks really familiar, there is a hott one like your or maybe yours i saw at carlisle last year i think and at maple grove i think once or twice.

sup itr206, i live in reno, nv. sorry but i don't think that was me.
Proper Exhaust piping diameter is determined by the Crank or WHP of the motor.
You want the largest diameter that will maintain Proper Velocity and and provide optimal Resonance.
Mandrel bends and lack of any bottlenecks or obstructions assists in the highest flow possible, providing the best gains.
This has been covered many times here before, as per sound, that relates more to a Cat, Resonator and Muffler canister, and tip.
I can tell you from personal experience that just running a straight pipe with a Thermal catback instead of with a cat raised the DB level from 95 to 99.
I have a 2.5 custom system no resonator jdm header high flow cat i felt power gain but the sound of the exhaust is annoying and raspy
