2001 GSR OBDI vs. OBD II

im hearing alot about obd I and obd II....what is the difference, and what disadvantages do I have with a 2001 GSR? can i still put the same aftermarket parts in my car? Im looking at putting in some DC sport headers....do I need to watch for anything?

thank you in advance!

first and foremost its header. there is only one. basically your car will not respond the same to mods as a 94 or 95 would. i have a 99 gsr and i got a skunk2 wiring harness and chipped p28 ecu, and it helped out a lot. the wiring harness and chip will run about 700 or so.

yes, you would need to look for a place to put the second header. unless i am wrong, the plural of header would be headers, and since only one header fits into a teg engine compartment or you stuffed a V8 into yours then get with the program. so instead of "some DC sports headers" try A DC Sports HEADER. to summarize, the only difference in OBD1 from OBD2 is that OBD1 can be programmed. this is not even close to necessary for a minor mod like a header and money can be better spent on the basic bolt-ons like exhaust and intake, then maybe a VAFC and some dyno tuning. If you really want to blow some cash, look into a hondata ecu or the AEM programmable ECU. Think your mods through and take a look at what you want your end result to be.a programmable ECU upgrade would be a good purchase far down the road from your header (singular) upgrade. and remember this simple fact: bolt on's will NOT void your warranty, an ECU swap will.
