Road Cone 2006 autocross season finished

It's been slow around here so I thought I'd share some success and good times (literally haha). A few days ago my autocross season got wrapped up and it was a blast. In the previous 3 years I just raced in events when I could, but this year I made a commitment to compete in every event in not just one, but two club series' in order to try to win the season championship in each series.

At the end of last season, I got my ITR LSD installed along with a couple other goodies and after re-learning how to drive effectively with the LSD, realized that the car and the driver had finally come together to a level where I could potentially be at the top of my class, which is a tough class due to my cams and other modifications. I finished last year with some good times and my 2nd win (although I was the only one in my class!) and was eager to give my best shot this year.

2006 turned out to be even more successful than I had ever imagined, with class wins in 14 of 17 events and topping the field in all classes 4 times. After 4 race seasons and 76k miles I'm happy to report that the car has never felt better and is a trouble-free daily driver. For all those who are interested in autocross but have never tried, DO IT. It's cheap, easy to get into, and these cars can be made to drive and handle SO well. I've driven a lot of cars and this one could very well be the most fun of them all. Your cars all have great potential so why not use it?

Check out my site for full race results: http://www.freewebs.com/white98ls/raceresults.htm

I'll post pics of my big trophies when I get them in January and meanwhile I'll be itching to get back out there.

that's awsome man

good job.

I really want to get into auto x. i just started college this semester and i was going to turbo my car over the summer but decided not too just for reliability purposes becuase its my only car. so i think im just gonna use all that $$ i was going to use on the turbo kit on making my car able to out handle anybody in my neighborhood .

i read your mods from your website and i hope you don't get mad, but i think i'm gonna rip off your suspension setup right now i just have H&R lowering springs and i dont think they would be sufficient.

That's awesome. It is very encouraging that you are able to perform so well, and yet keep your car in a reliable daily driver state. Also, the creativity with all the weight reduction is great. It's great how with rather few major engine mods, you are able to have a car that is that quick around the track. Keep it up. I'm definately going to check out the auto-x scene in my area.

Stock suspension is fine and preferable for your first time anyway.

Congrats on your whoopage of your rivals, for real though autocross is what it is about, alot of people say they can race so I say prove it, autocross is racing not that street racing bullshit which means nothing in the end. I enjoy cart racing and autocross and to be honest because I now have an outlet, I have never street raced again!! try it sissy's I promise you will be addicted.

I remember my first year, in Novice class I was kicking some douchebag's ass who had his dad's WRX and he was like, "how about we hit the highway for a real race after this?!" "...uhh, I thought we were AT a real race. You know, with timing, classes, corners, safety equipment, and legal sanctioning?" What a retard. He also could not be convinced that I didn't have a turbo until I told him to look for one under the hood.

Not gonna lie, I used to street race back in high school before the F&F days. It was dumb, and most of the fun for me was just hanging out with other "import" people anyway. But yeah, street racing is for children. There are still times after a really great autocross run where I can't help myself from yelling "WOOOHOOO"... seriously. Winning - officially - by a measurable amount and primarily by your own skill rather than the car's abilities is far more satisfying that any kind of illegal street racing you could ever do.
