when i bought the car used it had 205's on the 14 inch stock rim. Does that make my car any less efficient or any safety matters?
the measurements are 205/60/14

ur going to be fine with a wider tread patch. it is actually good on dry road for more patch contact to the ground. however, it is not too friendly during winter time.

Tires
I've had 205/65/13's on the rears and 175/65/14's on the front before. Yeah, totally ganster. This was borrowing some tires from a friend while between wheels.
1200mk, when you say "good" what do you mean good for, also, Kumho is just a brand, what tire are you talking about for what applicataion?
205/55/15 is a very common tire size for us import guys. IMHO, 195's are too skinny, and those Michelen XGT V4's are way expensive for what they are.

oh yeah i got some GSR rims currently in my garage in need of tires...............what should i get 195/55/15ZR or any info on the Yokohama ES100 tires 2.05/55/15ZR should i keep the stock size or get more traction by having a wider width..........on the tire wheel base.........
I dunno man, 205's on 5.5" rims are a little wide....I got Dunlop SP 8000's for my old 14's, even though they were still 195's they were definitely much wider than the stock Michelins. They stuck out a lot, pretty wide for the rim. I'd stay with 195's, you should be fine. My 195 Dunlops stuck like hell, great grip. If you go to a wider tire on a narrow rim, the sidewall gets really angled, not very close to straight up and down, which is a bad thing for changes in direction, gives it a "mushy" feel.
For 15", personally I would get 205/50/15's, the wider 6" rim would allow for 205's pretty easily and the shorter, stiffer 50-series sidewall would be nice for steering feedback.
Just my $.02.

The width of the tire really depends on the width of your wheels. If you are puttin g205's on 5.5" wheels, make sure its recomended by the tire manufacturer. Go the the specs section on each tire on www.tirerack.com and look at what the manufacturer recomends for each tire size.
205 may be okay on 5.5" wheels, but that may only be for aspect ratios of 55 or lower or vice versa. Of course 205/60/14's will mount up to the wheel since its for the same diameter wheel, but it's performance will probably be sloppy as hell as compared to 195/60/14 or even 185/60/14.
