3rd gear grindage

Ok, so for the last couple of days when i take 2nd gear to the higher RPMs and shift to 3rd it makes a quick sound of a grind. During normal driving or if I do take 2nd into the high RPMs and before i shift let it fall to about 4k then there is no grind. So Im trying to think of what could be causing this, my rear motor mounts?syncro's?tranny fluid needing replacment? :bh anyone have an idea of what this could be?
thanks.

it could be a few things. i would check the tans fluid level and add if needed. it sounds like bad syncro's. or maybe even a worn clutch, clutch master cylinder, or slave. have you added anything like a short throw shifter, i've seen peps put them on backwards. hope this helps. later

As good as synchrmesh is, it won't save the grinding if the synchro's are bad. And it sure does sound like a synchro problem (high rpm grinding, but goes away at low rpm's).

However, I do recommend doing a simple tranny fluid change. At about 30k, I would definately recommend changing the fluid out ASAP.

I see what your saying but, what could it hurt? im sure my third gear synchro is down to nothing but you couldnt tell by driving it even at high rpms
