91 INTEGRA GS..... I want to swap a automatic trans for manual
I have a automatic trans in my car and wanted to know how bad is this swap. Is it more of a hassle than its worth and i also want to swap out motor. I do bodywork , so i mess with alot of cars but I'm not a mechanic so was wondering what routes i should go , as far as wiring harness, ECM, stuff like that. Do they need to also be swaped or would they work with both. Any help would be great.
My buddy did a auto to 5 speed swap on gis DC2 and it cost him around $1800 for all the parts to do it that was everything! Then another guy on a integra site said he got his done in like 2 weeks at a shop and it cost him for everything i think around $1200. If i were you i'd sell the car buy a 5 speed unless you really love that car and want to put the time and money into it
Mods: turboed with stainless exhaust, lowered suspen. low pro 17's, full body kit with GTR rear wing
It's definetly a major project. Parts needed- trans, fly wheel, clutch setup, slave cylinder, clutch release cable , pedal assembly, along with all the mounting hardware, shifter, linkage from shifter to trans, center console. Buy a standard car it's alot easier.

+1
I always say that there are hundreds of thousands of manual Integras already out there... why go through all that time, effort, and money just to make one more?

As long as you do your research and take your time, I think the experience earned is better than money saved. It really comes down to whether or not you have the time, patience, and tools to do this swap. You will get to know your car bolt by bolt, and repairs and odd noises will be easier to find and fix.
As far as knowing what parts/electronics are needed is up to you.
