93 Integra Check Engine Light Error Code 43

Hi,

I am a newbie to these forums and a 93 integra owner. I have tried to search the forums before I post but was not able to find a related post (I found similar in the civic forum which was not very helpful to me.)

In the last 2 weeks, couple of minutes after starting my car, the check engine light turns on and stays like that as long as I keep driving. When I stop and restart the car it turns off and comes back after couple of minutes again.

When I stop the car and get out I noticed the exhaust gas smells weird; noticeably different than the times my car was running properly. And my car consumes gas much more inefficiently than it used to.

The first time I have experienced this check engine light problem, the car also showed problems with accelerating, it was not accelerating when I step on the gas pedal occasionally and catching up later, which is stuttering the car. I took my car to the mechanic, but he was not able to replicate the problem, therefore could not fix it. I do not experience this anymore, yet the engine light is still on and burning more gas.

When I read the error code from the check engine light, it gave me 43; which is Fuel Supply system. Can anyone help me on diagnosing the specific problem of my car.

Thanks

I say something like that, you're better off calling the dealership. They might give you some solid info, at least a place to start. I've been given a lot of free advice through honda dealerships, just ask nicely.

Also, if you dont have the manual, its worth the money.

code 43

hey also new at this but but i might be of some help. from my exp. code 43 comes up when a/f ratio is screwy. this can happen all kinds of ways but the most common on our year tegs is a bad O2 sensor. unless you have fuel system mod than that's another ball game. the reason your car runs and smells funny is because it is going into "limp mode" this dumps a lot of fuel so things don't lean out. try a new or diff O2 sensor preferably from a buddy's car ,there not cheap, and see if it clears it up. also clear the ecu of codes by disconnecting the batt. for 10 sec,s hope this help's
