'94 RS b18a swapping in new b16a1?

Hey guys,
My 94 RS is really tired @ 190,000 miles with original motor, surprisingly its still running strong with no leaks and does not burn oil! However Im going turbo and want a strong healthy dohc vtec motor. I was thinking LS/vtec but the cost of that build is expensive and still retains tired bottom end, or build bottom end while doing vtec head (crazy expensive!)?

Or pick up a b16a1 for about $1500 shipped as longblock no tranny and mate the old LS tranny up to it? Do I need to do any cable to hydraulic or vice versa BS to it? Does the motor bolt right in? Would you suggest all new aftermarket mounts? Stock shift linkage still work? Engine wiring harness? Im assuming a dohc vtec ecu is required for the vtec?Has anybody done this?

I would much rather do an OBD 1 GSR longblock but i cant find one for less than $2200! Ouch!

Is $1000 labor for removing old engine/tranny installing new engine tranny alot? My local import shop is charging this for engine swaps.

If anything, I would swap the b16 tyranny into a b18 motor. I wouldn't put the ls tyranny onto the b16 motor.

Installing the motor and tyranny for 1k is a fair price.

I was going to say that 1000 seems a tad steep. I think 500 is a better amount. Isn't there some friends of yours that have done work on cars that could help you do it? Its not too terribly hard.

You won't need to do any cable/hydrolic conversion. I too think that you need to ditch that LS tranny and get a B16 (or if you have to a GSR one) tranny. You will need a VTEC ecu.

b16A1 will end up being a torqueless hassle. get a B20 longblock for about 650, your tranny will work fine with it. and work on a crvtec. thats what Id do

i want the LS tranny for longer gears for my turbo kit. I just got a price from my Import shop and they will provide a JDM obd1 b18c GSR engine with LSD tranny remove my old motor and install this new engine/tranny package with new honda mounts for $4800 uS. I might even ask them to put in a new stage 3 clutch to prep for turbo. I mean almost $5000 for a new engine is soo much money and I am soo poor. But the motor is sick, 180 hp, 10.6:1 compression, LSD hydro tranny, under 50k miles. What about a b16a2 with LSD? What would that run?

LS/vtec is outta the question as I dont want to spend over $1500 on the parts/labor when it still retains the tired LS bottom end.

I too have a b18b integra with ~190k miles, and am running into the same situation as you. Swaps are expensive, especially if you are paying to get the labor done.

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with the b16. As for the GSR or typeR engines--they make only moderately more power than the b18b. You could rebuild your engine to handle HARD boost for less than 1500, and with a nice turbo setup($2-3000) you would be putting down maybe triple the horsepower you have now ... for less than the ITR swap.

I'm going LS all motor, plus a 75shot n2o, but i'm also crazy.

Just some ideas..

Oh wait...mild...still I don't think you could do too much if other people were assemblying the engine and pulling/dropping the engine back in and the labor...not with $2000 and parts...I doubt it.

mild

B20 = 650
vtec head = 500
oil stuff = 250

that leaves 600 for labor and various pieces. by mild I mean using the stock valvetrain and shit. but it would still end up costing a little more than 2000 i guess
