Who told you that? Its 00-01 that has the OBD2b. 96-99 has OBD2a.

  • OBD IIb (left 3 plugs used)
    OBD II ECU
    OBD I ECU
    OBD 0 (JDM PR3 and PWO)

They did change the programming for the OBDII in '98, and again in '00.

Damn I had a link showing that the programming did change a little bit in '98, but it's broken. I don't know about the 'left three plugs' or whatever but there were slight programming changes in '98.
