Accident, what would you do?

my car was idle due to traffic and all the sudden, someone bumped me from behind, i checked, some paint came off maybe 2 pencils size, nothing major....

i really don't wanna go through the insurance due to the time and pain, i heard.. maybe you guys have more experience... but it is 100% his fault.

if you were me what would you do? the guy had no cash at all, was driving a piece of shit.

i let him go. He didn't even freaking thank me.. what was that man..

sigh, but i had no choice. what would u do?

I'm a bastard, I would've asked for his insurance and called the cops about he accident then I would've gotten every penny I could've from him.

Yeah, I would have made him pay for it... But since you didnt get an accident report filed, or anything, reporting this to insurance will only drive up your rates... See if you can get it spot painted, like touch-up or something... Dont tell your insurance, wont do you any good....

Even if he did get the guy's insurance, without an accident report, gonna be hard to prove that he did the dmg... Insurance companies are real bitches about paying for stuff, unless they have no option, like the cops saying that it was the other guy's fault...

i guess my questions is how much trouble it is to go through the insurance company to get my car fixed... such like take days off from my work, leave the car there.. and all that shit.

i have never done it, but i heard from a lot of people.

I actually call 911, then cancel the call, cause i was in a hurry too.

I say screw it... Just pay for it out of pocket unless it is $100-$200+

Fuck that, I would have soo called the police or at least insurance. It was his fault so your insurance doesn't have to get involved at all. As for not having a car, from my past experience, and thats TWO wreaks, not my fault, the other person's insurance always paid for a rental car. I don't know man, I would have gone through with it, you'll be kicking yourself later.

Those paint scratches will soon chip more and more and you'll be wishing you had him pay before, IMO.

another question, if i've gotten his insurance info and a police report which he is at 100% fault,

can i get an estimate from a shop and send his insurance company the estimate, and after i get the check, i don't want to fix the car, that mean keep the check for myself?

man, I feel little neck pain today.. I feel so fine yesterday when my car got hit.

Yeah its up to you, you just tell them you want the check after they look at it and then you can do whatever with teh check.

For example last year on my SE-R some guy barely scratched my SE-R hardly noticeable but I got insurance and a shop to look at it and I got a check for 1100 for it. I kept the money and the scrach is still there but its under the fender right where the wheel is so you don't even see it. Haha
