apexi n1 problem

ok, i picked up the apexi N1 cat back, like 3+ years ago. the other day i heard it rattling a little bit more than normal, put some pressure on the tip to see if would stop, it didnt really. i was at work, and was like forget it, i'll check it when i get home. when i got home i noticed that canaster was moving but the pipe wasnt. so i reach around and feel where the pipe hits the canaster. it seems as if it was rotted. i really didnt check thoroughly(sp?), but the other parts look brand new. is an apexi n1 supposed to rot like that? its stainless steel... or is it only parts of it that are stainless?
what do you guys think, i would apreciate any help i can get.
thanks
joe

edit: incase i wasnt clear. the part that was rotted, was the flat part of the canister. like if you were looking at the back of the car, you see the tip, then "the flat part of the canister" then the cylindrical part of the canister. so its that same flat part, but on the other side where the pipe hits it.(hopefully that makes sense)

According to thier website:

"The canister is built from SUS 304 stainless steel..."

Doesnt say anything about the piping.

If you like the exhaust then just get some new piping.

You know they sell those cheapass like $150 stainless steel catbacks on ebay...just buy one and weld on the apexi n1 and sell the lame OBX muffler or whatever to some ricer for $5.

There ya go...brand new stainless steel mandrel bent piping.

went and checked before the rotting is on the back of the canister itself..
blahhh, what should i do? i bought the cat back, can i just get the one piece that has the piping attached to the canister?
or, this could be a way to pick up a new one
what cat back is giving the best HP #'s for mild ls/vtec motors. (got to plan ahead. want to get very high quality stuff. (if i do go that route)
thanks

I wold contact Apexi and see what they will do for you. That part should not rust out like that. Maybe they will give you another, and free sure beats buying a new exhaust. Then you have money for other stuff too!

Apexi have been known to break between the canister and the piping.

Exhaust is exhaust is exhaust, nothing is going to make more power per say on a LS/VTEC its more the header that makes power though the exhaust needs to be there for the header to make the power on the engine. Thermal makes a good exhaust in my opinion I have it on my DA it sounds damn good and looks almost stock enough to fool people and it is ALL Stainless.

i'd use the n1 in a turbo setup, not NA. it gets way too loud. so far i'm happy with my magnaflow, but i'm thinking of switching over to Apex WS sometime in the future.
