apexi power intake?
Does anyone have the apexi power intake in their integra? Did anyone here about the gains you get from it? now im not just talking about the filter, im mean the whole intake. I'm getting tired of my aem cold air. Looking for something different.
thanx
ps: i just put my car in the shop today to get my act clutch, toda fly, and quaife lsd installed. get back u guys with some details when i get the car back.
one more thing i'll be posting pics of my car soon. just gotted painted formula red.
I heard of it, but on a Skyline GTR-34. It gave him REAL GOOD numbers. But then again, thats on a GTR with over 250hp, not a GSR with 170. Im not cracking or anything with that last comment, because I used to have an Si myself. Please don't take it the wrong way. So try and find it, and let us know how it works. If you want the info. on the GTR with the Apex-i intake on it, go to www.motorex.com and look through their site. I think its under news, or tests. Something like that. I can't remember. But look for it. After seeing the numbers for an intake, you'll want it.
Why exactly? Just bored and have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket?
Did the AEM Not perform well or as expected?
Well, the Apexi is nice... But, it just a filter attached to an intake horn. As per Apexi's site:
"The dual funnel Power Intake
evolved from the highly
successful Super Intake. Subtle
refinements in the design and
filter element resulted in a 10%
reduction in pressure drop.
Utilizing an upper and lower
funnel, the Power Intake
reduces air turbulence within
the filter and creates smooth air
flow into the throttle body. The
Power Intake is a maintenance-free dry-type air
filter and will alleviate the
problem of filter oil from "wet"
air cleaners interfering with the
air-flow meter. Accept no
imitations."
It alone has not proven to provide more gains than the AEM or Comptech icebox.
Other intake you should consider IF you really feel you NEED a NEW CAI intake:
Comptech icebox
Injen
Iceman
As for filters ONLY I suggest the Comptech foam filter.
Good luck, I still don't understand why you want to change...
Heh, I might go with that Apex-i filter on my SRI...no wait...I want ITB's later...lol...yeah I'll pry get that filter for now considering I've never cleaned my SRI's filter ever but its only been on the DA for like a year.

we talked about filters once before. the concensus was that the comptech air filters were the best and most free flowing. someone used to have an air filter supertest with almost every kind tested in which the comptech won but i dunno if anyone remembers that. teh only reason i do is because afterward i went back to work(acura dealer at that point) and got one.

yea the comptech icebox is a very good intake system, but you have to realize that the reason why it flows so well is because the filter allows more air to pass through therefore blocking less substances then a filter which allows less airflow. Most likely nothing bad will ever occur because of it and i wouldn't not buy a comptech filter because of it but its just something to think about.
