audio problems... and a sound stage question
Okay... there are two posts in here, i have gotten crap for answers in the electronics section and i need to know some answers. i've been looking, but no one has anything about placement of speakers in a hatch. but the first question is this...
I have some OEM speakers and headunit at the moment, and the left side of the car front and rear sounds extremely bad like lots of static. is that a wiring problem or blown speakers?? the bass is okay in some levels and the front section is horrible for mids and bass and sounds like static. the rear highs sounds like static, but the front highs do not... any ideas???
and then the second question...
Okay, I've delt with premade boxes and enclosures, but I am creating a new custom box, and need to know about sound staging and locations for the woofers. I have two 10" rockford HE2 I want to have on opposite sides of each other in my trunk to save space I am making custom fiberglass boxes.
Where should they be pointing??? Towards the front of the vehicle? Someone said I can't have them facing each other because they'll cancel themselves out, so before I finish the boxes I need to find out which direction they need to face so I can make the boxes accordingly.
Here are some pictures of where I am going to be placing the subs... hopefully someone can help. Thanks!!!

your speakers could be blown, or the wires could be touching. either of those will result in a static sound.
dont have the subs firing at eachother. that will cancel out the bass. you will bet a better sound with the subs firing in the same direction. as far as when in the trunk they go it doesnt matter, bass is omnidirectional.

ok well since it's only on the drivers side really, i think the wires are touching, but what wires the leads to the actual speakers or is it that the wires could be cut or something???
I am planning on replacing them anyway, but any idea where i can find out what size i need?? i want some good speakers that don't cost an arm and a leg and will fit without modifications.
Also, I can put a woofer on both sides of the car but have them facing UP right?? facing up instead of facing at each other is ok if i am not mistaken? bass is bass, but im used to in house studio bass
I appreicate the help!!!

facing up should be fine. even if they are angled towards each other, as long as they dont face each other directly it should be ok.

your speaker size is 6.5 but get something on the shallow side for the fronts

i would have to agree that your speakers are blown i would definatlet change them before putting the system in it'll sound alot better that way and if you can brand match (all the same brand) even better

I'd do what was mentioned earlier and put the subs angling upwards. As for inside of the car, Just get some decent 6.5's in the door and whatever size that goes in the rear. Just make sure that the give good highs.

I think it might be made by Benen. for some reason it looks really familiar, maybe from Alex's car (IntegraXTR). and I know that he was a big into Benen for a while. but Im not sure. I doubt they make anything like that for DA

Damnit man I want one. I'll just get the C-pilar bar and try and get that X-brace that goes in the trunk.

I would build the box so that the subs angle slightly towards the front of the car. That would sound best. And while bass is omni directional it does make a difference where you place the subs since the bas will reflect in different ways inside the cabin. Also, as far as highs go I wouldnt buy any thing but alpine or focal. Those are the top two brands and sound the best. Pioneer isnt bad either if your on a budget. Focals are extreamly expensive but sound amazing. Alpine sounds really good and is pretty cheap. As far as depth goes alpine are some of the most shallow, so they will install really easy. As far as the static, thats either your speakers or more likly a wiring problem. If that is a true type-r I would let professionals install the system even if you are really good. Ive been doing this kinda stuff for about 8 years now.

no shit. But the car is worth alot more, so higher quality work should be done. You wouldnt want panels that dont line up right and rattle would you.
