Question Best Brake Pads

Need new pads in the front. I'm gonna shell out for these too (within reason) , so i want to know which ones are best. Prefferably for autocrossing, drag racing, and some crazy road racing. I'm hearing, Axis semi-metallic pads are good? not sure of all my options though. help me out.

peace

I'm almost positive that the Si and VTEC preludes share the same front brakes, since rotor size is identical. So theoretically, pads for an Si should work for a VTEC model...

Get the aem pads over the axis. At least I know the aem is suppose to be better than the axis , less fade which the preludes are prone to brake fade.

Im sure there are better pads out there that are more meant for racing...but the aems are good all around pad.

damn, i was straying away from aem, didnt think they were any good. but i guess ill keep them as an option. im hearing Endless is good, also Axxis (not axis) as well.

also someone is telling me if im going to go aftermarket then i need to get front and rears. otherwise it will be off balance or some shit?

I had the AEM pads for a while and they were great but they were very squeaky. I am still searching for the perfect pad.

I just upgraded my car with AEM pads and slotted/dimpled rotors up front....last night actually. And my first impressions are good. Better than stock at least. I haven't done any hard stops yet, cause I'm still breaking them in.

i like my EBC pads alot......a slight difference (i only use green stuff, you can upgrade to red, yellow or blue stuff), & they make NO dust.

don't know anything about the other pads mentioned in the thread, but EBCs are what stops me.

peace.

EBC Greens are decent autocross pads, but for the track definately go with Red's or Hawk Blue or Black. My car is never on the sreet, strictly a track car (SCCA T2). Porterfield also makes a decent pad autoX/street pad that can take a little track abuse. Be careful using any street worthy pads on a random track day, though. If you driving at 10/10ths (which you should be) you won't have any pads to get home with...

As far as matching front/rear, that's a load of crap. A lot of racers who don't use a brake bias adjustment use different combinations of pads, even from different manufacturers, to prevent front or rear lockup.

Just be careful, a lot of the track pads dont bite well when they're cold (specifically Hawk Blues and Porterfields R4). They will chew up rotors until they get to tempurature (usually over 250 deg.)
So for everyday driving I would use a autoX pad (EBC green or Hawk HP+ are good and cheap).

Hope this helps. Sometimes the best products can do more damage than good...

AXXIS metal masters are the best pads i have ever used... I havent gotten them to fade.... one bad thing is they are really dusty...
they seem to last forever... u will need to replace your rotors before the pads

I tried both AEM and Axxis, they're pretty much the same. Axxis lasted me for ~30,000 miles with hard braking; AEM - remains to be seen

I'd suggest: Endless CC-X, EBC Green Stuff or Hawk HP+ ....these will all be far better than AEM or Axxis....Axxis pads suck IMO, i had them before and changed them out WAY before they were used up and swapped them for EBC greens and was MUCH happier.....I have Endless' now and I like these even more than the EBC Green stuff pads.
