Buying a GSR

Hey guys, what's up. I've been waiting for this board to come up for months now... I'm glad it's back. Anyways, I'm looking to buy a GSR this summer and I was wondering what you suggest I should be paying for one. I've been following papers, websites, and magazines for a couple months, and I see that 94-96 GSR's are running for 10,000 - 14,000. Does that sound reasonable? And what should I be looking at as far as milage goes? I would appreciate any help. Peace.

By the way, for 94-96 GSR, if you 're not in a hurry, do the search.
My friend has got 95 GSR in very good shape, $9800.
It was sold by owner and the lady owner, so definitely no abuse.
The car was well kept in the garage.
So, take your time looking.

Since a 94 is now 8 years old look for mileage to be about 8 x 15000 which is the average mileage each year now. That turns out to be about 120,000. That is alot of milage. You could look into buying a 94-96 LS and swapping in a B18C for about the same price you could get a GSR for. That way you could probably get a 94-96 car with a GSR motor with 30-40 thousand miles on it. Plus insurance is cheaper on a LS.

Hey thanks for the advice guys. I'm thinking about waiting for this summer, and hopefully finding a good deal. I wouldn't mind paying $10,000, if it's in good shape. As far as the miles on the car, I'm not going to even look at the car if it has over 60,000 miles. Wish me luck!

for 10K you can get a 92-95 hatch and hook it up big time. even a 96-98, but you'd have less $ for mods.

Yeah I agree with you there, but if he likes the body of the integra I would recommend buying a 95 LS(because the 94's have the ugly black molding on the doors) and swapping a B18C or H22A motor in there. Your insurance will be less and you might be able to do it for around 10,000.

all ls's have black molding up to 97. h22a in a teg=shit for handling.

imo it's not worth the $$ to buy an ls and swap the engine for a gsr. the gsr also has stiffer suspension, rims, cluster, spoiler, strut bar, bigger lower tie bar, and best of all retains it's value. what i mean by that is if you get a ls and swap the engine, the value will still basically be the same, if not lower, because it shows you beat on your car. i know the things i listed aren't big but it all adds up pretty quick, especially if the car is going to be left stock.

btw honda's with 100K aren't a problem. this isn't domestic pos. honda engines easily stand up to 250K+ miles (friend has 88 accord w/260K, another friend has 94 hatch w/290K). they don't have problems with their engines even though the mileage is so high. a gsr w/100K can easily be found for under 10K. getting an ls and swapping the engine is not worth it.

It'a 93 red, full equiped
b17 engine entirely rebuild when bought 2 years ago+
it has been ported and polished,High rev sprigs added good for 12000rpm's,head gasket ok 0.08 to give a 10,4:1 compression ratio instead of 10,1:4
The exhaust has also been modified to 2 1/2 inch (no cat)
It also has a neuspeed race short shift kit.
I ask for 9300$ in canadian dollars.
do the math for us money!!

Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking to buy one that is at least a 94, simply because I like the body style better. Sounds like you got a nice ride. I wonder when they are going to start a "Post Pictures of your rides" thread? I was thinking about starting it, but it would be kind of stupid because I'm not lucky enough to own one yet. By the way.. I converted your $9300 in canadian, and it came out to roughly $124. I heard the exchange rate is bad. LOL. Jk.

Purchase of GSR

One of my friend recently purchased a savage title Integra 94 GSR red color for $8000.00

The car had 58,000 miles with some aftermarket intake and neuspeed sport springs.

The car looks alright.. paint job is in good condition.

Only problem I'd noticed so far is the hood won't close correctly.. You gotta slam it.

None the less I think the car is tat over price.. should be in low $7000.00

P.S. I drive 99 Integra GS-R, All black, AEM intake, RS-R exhaust,
Sprint springs. Check out my pic below.. poor quality but camera
works!

First off, not all LS's up to 97 had black molding. It was the early ones like 94 and 95. The 96's and 97's have color matched molding. Second, do you have a H22 integra? I wouldn't talk until you have one. The difference in weight is 75 pounds. It doesn't affect handling that much. Obviously you don't know much about cars when you say a engine with 100,000 miles on it is perfectly fine. I bet if you compression tested it you would think differently.

I think you should really do some research before starting your debate.

It doesn't matter what suspension a car has. I don't know that many people that are concerned about performance with stock wheels and suspension.

Any car that has performance parts is going to turn people away when buying it because it is a sign that a person is hard on it.
