i'm hearing this faint clicking noise when i turn on the a/c or the fan. it gets faster as i turn it up. what could it be? i hope it's nothing serious.
I was told to change them around 60K, you are getting close so that could be it? It may not be it, but it couldn't hurt to change them at some point sooner or later.
Also maybe checking to see if you need more freon.

It's probably something caught int he squirrel cage (yes that is a real part). It is located behind your glove box, attached to the blower motor. Take it a part, blow it off, and put it back in. This is if the noise is coming from inside your cabin area. The blower motor is a roundish black metal case up under the dash, but you can get to it without taking the dash apart. Now if the noise is coming from the engine bay, locate where it is and get back to us.

yeah, mine had a clicking noise coming from the blower motor that sped up as I increased the fan speed. Turned out to be a leaf in the blower cage.
I wrote up some tips on removing the motor from a 2nd gen. Maybe it will help:

(I know this is an old thread but someone may need the photos) I just did mine last night. The manual says take out the 3 bolts and remove it. But you need to also unbolt the air box.
remove all lower panels incl. center console. Then remove the pass. side support piece. Two bolts here:
tand wo bolts here:
should look like this:
Heres my mess:
remove 3 bolts on the airbox:
You gotta really wiggle that sucker to break it free.
Then remove 3 bolts holding the blower motor to the airbox:
remove blower hamster cage and put it on the new motor (make sure you also take the rubber gasket off the old motor and put it on the new one)
Cut off harness and strip wires. crimp but connectors supplied w new motor:
Test motor by turning on ignition and turn on a/c. If it works, put it all back together
Done!:
Yes it is a pretty common problem. Before going through all that trouble, I would set it on recirculation mode and turn the fan all the way up to 4... sometimes you can just blast the things out. The recirc. mode helps.

Heh, lucky for you maybe, my class that I'm in currently is A/C But yes props GS90. My advice would be to use a stethoscope to find out where the noise is actually coming from, most likely its in the air box if you're hearing it in the car remove the air box and pull all the shit out of it, all kinds of stuff gets in there especially if the car isn't garage kept. if the sound is coming from under the hood it could be the AC compressor clutch engauging but not if its a repeated clicking, most likely something flapping in one of your mode doors or blend doors within the air box it self. Good luck, pulling air boxes out from the dash is a real bitch.
