caliper help

first off, i'm a noob in the teg section.. my gal's 92 teg LS sedan has some problems with the braking system... went to the mechanic and he said that both the rear calipers needed to be changed cos they were both frozen... anyways, the quoted me $970 to fit it (change both calipers, rotors and brake pads)... i said fuck that....

anywyas, i've been looking online and i found www.fastbrakes.com... they have the typr R calipers and rotors... and it mentioned that the bracket needed some modifications for the caliper to fit... anyone know how difficult this is??

also, how tough is it to replace the calipers?? i'm a noon when it comes to the braking system... if anyone is interested, i would pay good money for your help (need to be in Indiana).. thanx

for that kind of money you can get a big brake kit for that car and still have some money left over to take your lady out for dinner.
go to a parts store (autozone, napa, pepboys etc.) and get two rebuilt calipers around $100 each, two rear rotors about $50 each, a set of new pads $50 at the most, a bottle of brake fluid $5 and a chiltons maual for $20 and do the job yourself.
you'll have to give them your old calipers, and it will probably take you about 3 hours to do the job but at least you'll save about $500

Geesh..thats expesive for just changing calipers considering that a rebuilt one from the autoparts store only cost about 50 bucks plus core u know ? Its not that hard to change out the calipers your self ...but i would reccomend u find someone that is at least competent or expeirenced enuf to do the job. Its not hard, just have to be tedious about it cuz it is a very important part of the car.
