car needs some help or info

I bought an 87 intgera for $300 4 months ago and was wanting to rebuild the engine in it which is a d16a1 and just recently the engine locked up. I took it apart and rebuild the whole thing and 2 days after rebuild it and driving it ( under 4k rpm) the engine started to knock like crazy. So I took it apart and found out that piston # 4 rod bearing turned to dust. replace the rod bearing and the knocking still occurred. took it apart again and the crankshaft is no good. Ive been doing some research and found out that the d16a6 crank will work but not so sure i have it but i dont want to go stupid and putting it in if it wont work. I was aslo thinking about using the a6 rods? will that be a good idea? any info will help

Usually when you spin a bearing, metal is strewn through the entire motor. You cant just replace the bearing and put it back together. It really needs to be rebuilt entirely, again.

Why didn't you just swap it out for a b-series in the first place?

Anyways, its gonna be kinda hard to answer considering there are not much d-series info on this. You might want to visit the www.g1teg.org for more G1 teg info.
