Clicking sound

My motor makes a clicking sound....at idle, and it gets louder and faster as i accelerate. It is a really annoying sound, and makes my whole engine sound really bad. Anyone have any ideas what it is, and how to correct it?

Where is it coming from? Sounds like you're due for a valve adjustment...

Has it just recently started? Could be your valve adjustment. But like 91Integracer said, it could also be your injectors. I know I noticed my injectors really well after I put on my header. I guess it is because the stock exhaust manifold is thick cast iron and holds sound in pretty well when compared to an aftermarket header. Are you sure it isn't an exhaust leak? You can usually hear where an exhaust leak is coming from, but they are pretty constant at idle, and speed up with your increasing engine RPM. Good luck.

Actually, it became most noticable after i got my headers, but has recently become slightly louder, I think. It getting louder, could just be me imagination, but im almost positive it is getting louder.

I'm having the same problem. I thought that I needed a valve adjustment. But, the noise got worse even after I had the valve adjustment. I'm thinking it's the rotor in the distributor. Anyone have any ideas?

it's either your injectors or you need a valve adjustment, nothing to worry about, it's a common thing on B18 motors, expect it to be louder when you get aftermarket valves and retainers

I heard a clicking, ticking sound coming from the engine when at idle, I popped the hood, started listening, then put my ear on the distributor and sure enough it was the rotor in the distributor that was bad. I replaced the cap and rotor, and the noise is gone and the car seems to run smoother, and idle better!
