Your friend is clueless. Your clutch and flywheel have no effect on your GEARING.

Some ppl are confident on lies. Think about it logically, like white98ls said, how would a clutch make you loose mpg? It has no affect on gearing.

It will make him lose mpg when he realizes his car is more fun to drive and he digs into the throttle more often

...sorry, I couldn't resist.

I think your friend might be mistaken. Once the car is in gear, the clutch is not being used, but the flywheel is spinning. With a lighter flywheel it is easier for the motor to get high RPMs because it has less weight to spin. Just do a little research of how your clutch works, the difference between stage 1 and 3 clutches, and how a lighter flywheel works. 20-30 minutes online and you'll be able to tell you friend how hes wrong.

Oh, and good choice on getting a stage 1. It will make daily driving easier.
