Pretty cool. But wont the salt also make the ice melt by raising its melting point?

i never understood how that worked but it does. if you got warm soda or beer or somthing and you put it in a cooler and add salt that shit will be cold i think in less then 5 minutes or some shit i seen it on the discovery channel.

i think you mean lowers its melting point, but yeah, i noticed that, the cube i put the salt on was putting more water on the paper towel underneath it than the regular cube. as long as this is used for like 1/4 mile runs, or auto-x runs, i think it wont melt all the way given you use a big piece of ice.

i tried freezing salt water, i forgot to dissolve it throught boiling, but shaking it up for a minute should give somewhat similar results. its been freezing for about 5 hours, the temperature right now is 14 deg F. it still has some freezing to do since there was still some water on top and the ice was weak. i tested my freezer temp which fluctuated between -1 and 2 degrees, so we'll see how close we can get to that.
