looking into putting either 62401 or 62402 cam shafts into my LS integra with the adjustable cam gears. i have 2 questions, will there be a noticable difference with the 401's because they say they are stock replacement. and if i get the 402's should i replace the valves, valve springs, retainers?
thanks
I don't really see a point to replacing your stock cams with 401's. Why don't you just get the 403's and leave your revlimt alone. Crower has said that this is ok.
with those cams they recommend using upgrades springs with ti retainers, should i upgrade my valves too? if so, who makes good ones for the b18b1 head?
dont have the money for an ls vtec for now. just want to upgrade gradually, might go turbo or superchage in the future, so i want to upgrade my cams now, and also wondering if i get the 403's, will they idle like real crap, or not be so bad, and should i upgrade the whole valvetrain?
thanks
if you really wanna go FI later, you really shouldn't even play with the cams. i'd get the 403s & some AEM cam gears & jump on a dyno somewhere. if you can afford springs & what have you, do that while you're in there too.
its going to be at least a year before i go FI, just want to know if i get the 403's and replace the springs/retainers/valvetrain, and tune, set my rev limit to 7500 or 8000, will i be happy

sounds okay, but you gotta get some gears and put that thing on a dyno & tune it.
Just my .02, but why waste your money? If you go FI in a year you'll need a different cam profile (like Crower's 62402T). Just wait and do it all at once... properly.
It's not a wast of cash you will need to use the valve springs for your turbo cams 402T from crower which will help with boost lag and hp and tq. just buy the cams run them till like next october take them out with out the valve springs and sell them on ebay or the parts trader for like 300$ and use the money to buy the turbo cams.

your idle will be a little ruff not that bad,it's not a bad thing i kind of like it. i realy like the 403's good power and good mid and top end. you don't nead 2 upgrade your valvetrain, unless your car has a lot of miles on it.but if you plan 2 go FI don't get them
IF YOU GET 403'S YOU NEED VALVE SPRINGS AND RETAINERS. OR ELSE YOU WILL, NOT MIGHT ,NOT COULD, WILL BE SORRY. PAY THE 300 NOW FOR SPRINGS AND RETAINERS, OR PAY ALOT MORE LATER WHEN YOU MOTOR IS F'ED UP. MY FRIEND HAS 403'S IN HIS CIVIC/GSR SWAP, AND WHEN HE HITS VTEC IT SOUNDS LIKE A MONSTER.
Well, stock replacement won't be any noticeable difference.
Nothin for nothin guys but Crower is actually billing the 62402's that he asked about as:
"Stage 1- Street use and agressive Turbo or Nitrous. Idle to 7500 rpm. (up to 12 hp)."
And to answer the question of "IF" you need to upgrade your valvetrain?
This can be illustrated on the next line below the above quote for the 62402T:
"Stage 2 - Turbo/Super Charger specially designed specifically for forced induction applications. Features short duration, high lift for added cylinder pressure and good bottom end power. Requires kit 84162."
kit#84162 is: "84162 - KIT Honda/Acura 1.8L LS Dual Spring & Ti Retainers"
And since you didn't see the upgraded powertrain stock number for the 62402 as listed by the manufacturer. I'd deduce that you wouldn't "NEED" to... This IS from the manufacturer!
