engine noise with headers

Just curious on how much headers add to your engine noise, or if they even add at all. How loud is it compared to a CAI.

be more specific.....what is your piping diameter, do you have a test pipe? a hollowed cat? a larger cat? what kinda muffler.....and what headers with which design? all that plays into a big part of the noise.

Oh really I didn’t realize all that plays a factor. All I have in my car right now is an AEM CAI, and when you hit about 4grand it starts to get loud. So as soon as I get some more $ I was going to get some headers (don’t know what kind I’m going do research them a little more) so I was curious, In general does headers make your car louder. I don’t have a test pipe or a after market muffler or any thing except a CAI.

it will make it a bit louder under throttle yes.....but it all depends, but most cars get a bit louder under throttle with a header

You will be able to hear a difference if that is what you are asking.

My exhaust just deepened a little with the header. I already had i/e at the time. Definitely sounded better.

Yah it would deepen your exhaust tones. Not a significant change but you can tell.
