Hi y'all. As some of you know, my fiance bought me a 95 GSR with a JDM front end conversion. I was home in Cali this past weekend to go camping with the family and checked out the car. From the sides, the conversion looks clean, except for the obvious need to be painted. But when I got closer to the front bumper, I noticed a couple things. First, and most obvious, there is about an inch to an inch and a half of gap between the top of the grille and the bottom of the hood. Secondly, the headlights seems to be sitting out a little more than they should be. I'm thinking that the JDM front bumper support bar would help, but Password:JDM doesn't have any in stock, and I can't seem to find one for sale. If there is anyone out there that can give me some tips, please let me know. I'll be headed back to Cali in two and a half weeks to get the car worked on, pick it up, and drive it back to Wyoming.
Thanks for the quick reply. The install didn't look like a hack job, but it did kinda look like the bumper is sagging a bit, hence the reason I'm thinking I need a JDM bumper support. As for the grille, I was thinking that I can get it cut of the mount, moved up and back a bit, then get it molded into the bumper. Do you think that'll work and look good?

Sounds like it would, but then again, it may make things harder for the body shop to work with... I would go to them with an estimate first, then if it is to much with them, then I would attempt to do it myself...

OK, so I found out that the JDM reinforcement and support weren't used. I know that I have to use the reinforcement (two brackets with the metal bar in the middle), but is the support absolutely necessary? I'm not trying to be cheap, but why spend $89+shipping on a brand new support when I may be able to rig something up with stuff from Home Depot? This is a call to all of you who have the JDM ITR conversions done. Did you use the reinforcement AND the support, or just the reinforcement? I need to know ASAP because I sold the old Tein SS coilovers I had on my 01 Sentra in order to have money to buy the stuff for my Teggy. Password:JDM has both the support and reinforcement brand new in stock and I want to ge them before they go out of stock.
Thanks for the help. I was thinking that the support is worth it. I'm the kind of person who would rather spend money to get things done the right way, instead of ghetto rigging someting until I have a headache. I simply asked about the "Home Depot support" to see if anyone's gone down that road and has tips on how I can make a support. So yea, looks like I'm gonna get both the reinforcement and support. Just gotta wait on the money from the coilovers.
i dont know but i didnt use a reinforcement bar on mines... i juse used the radiator support and my stock bumper support and it held mines good... my bumpers right on... thats because i went with the after market bumper (cwest)... but before when i used the stock JDM bumper i didnt use nothing at all... no reinforcement bar, no bumper supprort... thats because they didnt send me none of them, just the conversion and the radiator support... i had to go the ghetto way, but it still worked... oh yea and JDM conversions dont suck... their the S***...
What exactly did you have to do to make your JDM OEM bumper work? Mine is still sagging pretty bad. I have no issues with buying the reinforcement and support, but I'd like to know what you did in case I can't get a hold of the items in time and need a temporary fix.
do it the ghetto way... just find a way that will make the bumper stay where you want it... i dont know how to explain it... but all you do is find something like a thin metal material, bolt/screw it onto the bottom if the bumper and onto another part of whats underneath the car... that worked fine for me... but then now i went with the CWEST bodykit so i didnt use that no more... i just stayed on fine... all i have to say is that if you want it done, theres many possibilities on getting it done... i just did mine the ghetto way and saved a couple hundred bucks and then add a couple more hundred bucks and got me a complete CWEST kit...
