Floor bar?

What is a floor bar? Where does it go? (floor...?) I see them on Ebay once in a while. It mentions nothing except for chassis flex reduction. True or not?

I've been happy with the improvements of front and rear strut bars; will this do anything for my car (besides make money for an Ebay seller)?

Thanks.

Yep, usually right behind the front seats across the mid hump. "It's usually just a show Ka thing." Kinda like the whole Monkey bars thing.

Nope, pretty much you already knew your answer.

When you get to the point that you are needing to strengthen the chassis and minimize sway THAT MUCH,,, You are usually racing pretty seriously and should more than definately have a welded in Custom Roll cage that will both act as a chassis brace/strengthener AND a safety measure.

Save your money.

Hey 1Greyteg, what's your opinion/experience with those C-pillar bars? Since hatches flex more than coupes because of the lack of any crossbars at the bottom of the rear window, it kinda makes sense, but does that area really flex all that much? I do admit it looks cool, but I'm not going to spend a bunch of money (or go through the trouble of fabricating my own) on just looks. Plus wouldn't the rear passengers' heads rest against it and smack it in a rear-end accident? Not cool.

You nailed it on the head again there.

AND that in the case of an accident YOU the driver will be tossed around EVEN if you have a seatbelt on. IF your relatively soft melon whacks into one of those bars you can be sure that your melon will lose.

Like I said, serious course racers are not doing these things since all of the neccessary cross bracing is incorporated into roll cage setups both prefab and custom.

And As we've already gone over once before I believe, is that a roll bar may be safe when you are harnessed in WITH a helmet on but, once the helmet and harness are off you have a serious chance of AGAIN whacking that soft melon on a rollbar and Good night Charlie.

Do me a favor and post a few picks of these cross bars and C piller bars,,, I'm getting lazy in my old age. And I love a good rip session.

PS funny how the automakers worked soo hard over the years to remove all the sharp hard surfaced parts from the cars cabin to help save lives,,, then these yahoo companies work just as hard on marketing their stuff that does the complete opposite.

If you advertise that you will add performance benefits to your import car, thats all you need. These consumers won't even give it a second thought related to safety. They just want it so they THINK they are doing something better for their car to make it better/faster. And car shows and others like Hi-Rev-Tunerz doesn't help thios situation... It's almost the same as replacing your Airbag equipped steerign wheel with a cooler "race" looking wheel,,, Now we're really hitting on something. Yeah stupid heads on hard surfaced steering wheels that is.

Also do you think this would do anything? It looks like it would do nothing at all considering it's running along a wall of steel....

That particular C pillar bar is supposed to strengthen the mid section of the car for models with a sunroof but, is it really needed? Nahh probably not.

Is that the J's bar BTW? I see those types of bars used more just for a good in car camera mounting position than for stiffening up much.

A similar rear trunk brace is actually already stock and IN the Integra Type R. In the R it is attached to 2 mounting points and runs the length of the rear trunk. It is for strengthening the rear trunk area and it's OEM from the factory so I'd guess it works.

Again though, how much I dunno.

Mine is factory installed. So I already have one but, I also have strut tower bars and a Rollbar with 2 crossbraces so for me it would be overkill to have the C piller bar as well.

Some may swear by them and possibly for a car that has a sunroof, there might be a bit more stiffening but, again, when you get to the point where you need to stiffening things THAT much for performance, you will be looking into a full cage.
