Question Fuel Pump Question

I have a 94 GSR and I am working my way up to a NOS plate kit. I am doing everything possible before I actually get the NOS kit for saftey issue's. My question is which in-tank fuel pump should I get. I have seen alot of people with the Walbro 255, and have heard both good and bad things about it. But at the web site, summitracing.com they have a NOS brand in-tank fuel pump. It seems to be a little more powerful than the Walbro, but my question is.....is the NOS fuel pump better in quality, will it crap out on me and it is worth the almost $100 more than the Walbro pump?

Thanks for you help..

buy the holley brand, the pump is actually a walbro and it will fit right in the stock holder.

Hey,

While you're at it, get the 255 lph HP (high pressure) Walbro. It's maybe an extra 10 bucks, but if you ever want to go SC or turbo, or something else that requires a rising rate FPR, then you'll want the added flow at those higher pressures. Mine is barely audible at times, only with the stereo off, but peace of mind is definitely worth it.

And yes, almost every other fuel pump out there, especially if advertised as 190 or 255lph is a Walbro in a different box and higher price.

How hard is the installation of a fuel pump? Could someone machanically inclined do it farely easy, or would it take a mechanic?

It's much easier to do if you have a lift, as you have to drop the gas tank and stuff, so in my honest opinion, have a dealer alternative or performance shop do it.

I think mine was $200 installed, from Protech Performance in Austin...........Not too bad.

Thanks,
Nick

your retarded if you paids 200 to get it installed and no you dont even have to drop the tank . . . . . under your rear seat there is an alum panel take that off and pull out the pump , and just plug the new pump in and mount it to the stock location . it shouldnt take more than 15-20min .
if you dont believe me look at a haynes manual at where your fuel pump is .

First of all, if you had actually stopped to read my post, you would notice that I paid $200 for the pump and installation, which puts the install at like $90. Second, the seats really don't come off that easily, as I've already broken the impossible-to-reach welds that the seats clip into when I was trying to put my stereo in. Plus, if it screws up, it's on their shoulders. So did you bust out your Haynes manual to tell me I'm retarded, or is this from actual experience?

i know from exp , i was saying if you dont believe me you can see for yourself .
seats aint hard to take out . . . . if you have common sense to mod your car at all yourself you should be able to take seats out. . .
and there are no welds on the seats? what are you talking about . ? its 2 hinges in the bottom seat and 2 clips on the sides of the backs and then slide em out .

I dunno........I had the common sense to design, fabricate, and install my own turbo kit.......I have the common sense to be on a formula car design team, but I seriously couldn't get the seats out. Maybe mine are just weird or something. I watched a frustrated Acura tech try to get them out, too....
