tech wrench Fun with window motor and regulator

Just want to share the time I had correcting a driver's side window problem. One day I rolled the window down and it didn't want to come back up, so I called a friend of mine and he said if the motor is still sounding, it's probably the regulator. I jumped the gun and picked one up at the dealer for $115. I took the driver's side panel apart, unbolted the motor from the window and the body. (6 bolts holding the regulator and motor to the body and 2 bolts holding the window to the regulator) I had a friend hold the window up so I can slide out the motor and regulator. I unbolted the motor from the old regulator and put in the new one. I slapped everything back together but it seems like the motor couldn't handle the load. The dealer wanted $275 for a new motor so off to the junkyard I went I pulled a motor off a 99 RS for $50 and cleaned it up a bit...I threw everything together, treated the window tracks with silicone spray and prayed it'll all come together...I turn the ignition and find out my switch is upside down?!?!? I took the panel apart again to see if I might have put the motor or regulator in upside down but everything seems fine. Oh well...except for the switch being upside down I think its pretty handy that the window can click auto up instead of auto down now...Anyone might know where I could've gone wrong? I'm thinking there might be some issue with the wiring, but kinda hoping someone can help before I go through another day of trial and error...Oh and one point to be made for anyone to tackle this job...It isn't that hard BUT be careful with the regulator...I was handling the piece and found about a dozen cuts all over my hands and lap...Car I was working on is a 2000 2dr GSR
