Well about 4-5 weeks ago I posted about how I down-shifted from 5th to 3rd well I ended up taking it to Acura to have them take a look at it, and it turns out that my 3rd cylinder has low compression and some valves are bent. Well they said that it would be like 2 g's to fix, so I ended up going to jotech and I am getting skunk 2 titanium hi compression valves, retainers, and springs, and a free oil change for a grand. Then I am gonna take my ecu to them and get it installed and my short ram which was orignally a cai converted back into a cai for like 100 bones.
Damn I can't wait to get my baby back!

GSR motor/tranny can do about 95 mph in 3rd. dropping from 5th to 3rd at 80 mph shouldn't do anything bad to the motor, unless it's in real bad shape or not used to those rpm. even if it's not regularly beaten and tached out it should still be fine.

i did that once.. luckily i wasnt' racing.. and i barely tapped redline on 2nd.
remember he said he was going around 80mph. shifting to 3rd when going 50 might be ok but not when you're going 80!!
read the post before you answer man.
maybe some of you don't drive GSR's or don't drive GSR's to their full potential. it is ideal on my setup (and most other GSRs) to drop 3rd gear when rolling between 75 and 85 mph. you drop right into your best powerband and smoke most cars. high revs wear motors faster, BUT most Honda motors have high redlines straight out of the box so use them to their full potential. the motor is not gonna blow up unless it's tuned improperly. there's really no reason to have a GSR/ITR/S2K/SI etc. motor if you're not gonna use the power in the 8/9K band.
