Good insurance on Integra?
Anyone here been in an accident that had good results from their insurance company? I have progressive, mainly cause it's dirt cheap, but now I've had an accident and now it looks like I'm getting what I paid for. First, I hit a deer, the hood and front bumper had to be replaced. Of course that means the front half of the car is now a gorgeous new red, while the back half is faded. When the adjuster first looked at the car, I told him I was worried that they would just repaint the front end, and I'd end up with a car that was 2 colors. He assured me that they'd make sure the car 'got back to the way it was before the wreck'. Sure enough I have a 2 color car now, and Progressive of course isnt footing the bill to paint the car. That doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that I mentioned this BEFORE the work was done, and the guy assured me that the car would look like it did before. If he had been straight up and told me they would only repaint the front from the get-go.....but he didn't.
The second part is....as soon as I hit the deer, the ABS light came on. The body shop sent it to another shop to fix that, and apparently when they got the car the light wasn't on so they did nothing. Probably just as well since likely only an Acura dealer has the equipment to properly check it out. Well when I got the car back and the ABS light came back on, I tried for 2 days to get in touch with the adjuster.....finally on the 3rd day I tried his supervisor, leaving messages with both. Then on the 4th day the adjuster's voice mail now says he is out of town till monday. I leave another message with the supervisor yesterday. Finally today some other guy calls me and tells me basically that they aren't paying for the paint job, he says they MIGHT could polish and wax it and bring out some of the color. Then I ask if Progressive will cover that, and he says NO. Then we get to the ABS light.....he says that we should take it to the Acura dealer(I agree), but that in order to do that, I have to sign a teardown order, which means that Acura will check the ABS, and if there is ANY way they can say that there was a problem with the ABS BEFORE I had the wreck.....guess who's paying for ALL the work? Me. Given that I already need to get a $600 valve job done on the car, I can't afford another few hundred for an ABS check. I'm thinking about taking it by the Acura dealer first and telling him the story and see what he thinks I should do.
So basically it looks like I'm getting cheapo service to go with the cheapo price. Suddenly those higher-price companies aren't looking so bad if I can get better service. Good news is my policy is up for renewal at the end of the month.
And that's another question: Since no police report was filed with this, if I switch companies do I need to mention this accident to my new company?
Thanks guys....
