governer on '00 teg LS? brake questions.
i bought the car used with 110k miles for 5,200$, entirely stock. i had people tell me it should have a governer at like 125mph, so i decided to find out.
driving down the I-17, in AZ between phoenix and the prescott turn off, i pushed 143 mph. it WAS a big downhill, but is my car supposed to have a gvnr or did they not have any clue what they were talking about?
another thing, at those speeds, anything above 110 mph, i can only brake and slow at 10-20 mph increments, because my brakes fade almost instantly. maybe the rotors were turned instead of replaced? any other ideas on a good setup that will help me apply a constant brake around those speeds? i touch 110-115 almost every other day, i just wanna be able to appy heavy brakes and slow to 60-65 without worrying about lettin em cool and catch up with the car.
this is also my first thread post on a forum. anything to improve?

1. The car does not have a governor.
2. Having your rotors turned vs. replaced has nothing to do with brake fade. You clearly have no understanding of how brakes work.
3. Your car does not brake well above 110mph because, well, it's a 140hp economy car that you bought for $5,200. What did you expect?
4. The reason I'm being short with my answers is because you regularly drive like a complete idiot on public roads and sooner or later, you're going to hurt yourself and, perhaps more importantly, other people. So I really don't mind if I never see you on this forum again. Take it to the track, or grow up and stop doing triple digits around innocent and unsuspecting people.

Yes - grow up and stop driving like an idiot.

i talk about speeding, but its always on hwy 260, between 2:30 and 3:00 AM, theres never any traffic, so i dont worry about it. the most i do IN traffic, is 20 over, basically 65 in a 45.
i know how brakes work, i just dont know the chemistry of what causes those kinds of problems.
ive only hit 143 that once, and the car kept accelerating, and at that point, my car began floating so i slowed down.
there is not a single track within 3 hours of here, nor even any auto-cross events. im not into that kinda stuff anyway, i just like to get places fast.
just because i dont have the money to mod my teg, make it faster, look cooler, and have more people envy it, doesnt mean i dont dream about it sometimes. my girlfriends car is faster than mine, and its a srt-4 DODGE. she doesnt have to TRY to make it go fast. it just goes. and me, liking fast cars, i got the fastest one i could afford, and i push it to its limits. sure im only 17, but geeze u dont gotta come off so harsh. whats the point of doing all these swaps, and transformations, if you dont plan on driving it hard and fast? thats my question. because everyone i know with a fast car, goes slow.

still makes you dumb. speeding that fast in a stock econo honda is dumb. i flipped my teg doing the speed limit because of the shitty ass stock tires on open highway. so don't act like you're being the least bit smart.
dreaming is fine we all have dreams about our rides hence why we mod them. but be smart and use the best/cheapest mod you have. the driver/brain mod

whos derek??
how did you flip going the speed limit?
how much did u put into your 'teg?
id like to mod mine, but the thought of blowing my motor, or some other disaster keeps me from doing so. i have a short ram intake, and thats all. i dont have the money anyway, so at least instead of spending small bucks on cheap mods, and ending up like the typical ricer, im just staying stock. figure ill get less crap that way.
ok, well its about time for new tires, i would prefer good summer tires, any brands to recommend, or even certain tire types?
how hard would it be to give mine an LSD?

Did I ever knock you for not having many mods? No. I only said you were being reckless and stupid for driving like that on public roads. Many of us, myself included, were young and dumb at one time, but you need to realize that speed limits exist for a reason - hitting 105-110 (especially when you KNOW youre brakes suck) every time you drive is just plain dangerous, and hopefully you get your license taken away before you kill or seriously injure yourself and/or others.
You say you're 3 hours away from any autocross events or tracks, but you're driving on I-17 near Phoenix (which I see on Mapquest basically goes right through Phoenix)? Give me a break, man. I guarantee you there are autocross events much closer than 3 hours away - much closer than they are to me, that's for sure. Ever heard of PHOENIX International Raceway? Or Firebird International Raceway?

There was an autocross YESTERDAY at Firebird. There's a Driver's school on each of three days this weekend at PIR. I would LOVE to have that many opportunities so close by. I have to wait over a month sometimes to take a 1.5hr trip to autocross.

well, its not distance. im like 2 hr from firebird, i didnt know they did autocross n stuff. i thought it was all drag races though. the major issue is money. i mean, tires, gas, wear and tear. i would love to go to an autocross, even to just watch. but srsly cant afford gas. even if i do 60 mph to phx, it still takes a half tank there and back.

1. i was doing 68 on route 70, the road was mildly damp and the car lost traction slid between two other cars and went up the embankment and a baby tree saved my life. it caught my undercarriage and prevented me from flying off the hillside. it's why i almost never speed, and i never go past 80 mph anymore. don't speed no matter how safe you think you're being. speed limit is there for a reason
2. do research and you won't blow the motor and find all the answers to your questions.
3. i won't tell you how to mod your car until you do 1 and 2

i dont know where route 70 is... was it a sharp corner? were your tires near bald? how did u just randomly lose traction?
i dont know what its like where you live. so i dont know road conditions or anything. but down here, its dry. real dry. i can see where you are coming from though. along with 90% of my friends, family, and even just other random people.
another thing, my teg is an automatic. ok, so it IS just an economy car. but i drive it like a sports car. so how careful do i have to be when adding things to it?
