GReddy Evo for 250. Rusting?

I used the search function, but I came up empty. I just got a 97 integra LS a couple of months ago and as soon as I got it I put on an Apex-i N-1 universal muffler. It sounds great, but I want some type of performance now. One of my friends will sell me his GReddy Evo catback for 250. It is a really good price, but I have heard that they rust badly. To anyone that has or has had it I would like to know about the rusting or any other problems they might of had with the exhaust. Thanks

Milano97 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Usually I hear the resonator and piping of GReddy Exhausts rust faster than usual...I have heard of GReddy SP's rusting internally, but I haven't heard of any EVO's rusting inside...on the muffler itself, I hear alot of the welds start to rust on all GReddy Exhausts, some people complained about that too...best thing to do is keep it clean, if there is rust use some type of sandpaper or something to sand it off. Also the weather conditions you live in affect rusting a lot too...lots of rain, snow and salt=rust.

My EVO rusted at the welds almost all over and especially on the muffler canister. I only had it for about 8 months but, it was baptized in the NE salty snowy winter.

As per performance, you will not see any staggering gains with a catback for the LS. Truth be known for bolt ons alone the AEM/CAI was the most impressive.

As for the price of $250. for it used, thats just fine as long as its the correct one for your car and has minimal rust or wear and of course dents or damage.

Good luck,

A.

One other variable can effect how fast an exhaust system will rust out: how long your commutes are.

If the engine/exhaust system doesn't heat up and stay hot for more than 20 to 30 minutes, there's still condensation and moisture in the exhaust system. This will eventually eat it up.

Way back in the day, I drove an 85 Civic Hatch (DX!). The parents bought an exhaust system with a lifetime warranty. The dealership VOIDED that warranty because we brought it back too often, every few years, because it would rust out. Go figure... 5 mile trips every day.
