94-01 LS, 98-01 ITR, and 00-01 GSR exhausts are all interchangeable.

Bingo, randyman once again is the man. I don't know if it's really worth the trouble though, the install is a bit of a pain without a lift, and the GS-R piping is only 0.09" bigger. Does anyone know how much more efficient the GS-R muffler and cat are? Given the fact that on mildly modified cars, an exhaust adds maybe 2-5whp (?), I don't know if you'll feel any difference, and it will sound the same too. I didn't feel a huge world of difference with my 2.36" mandrel-bent A'pexi WS from the stock 1.91" crush-bent exhaust, so I dunno if you'll feel anything with a 2.0" crush-bent stock exhaust. Now a Type R exhaust would be a different story.... But for free, can't lose with that.

I just bought a USDM type-r header, cat, and b-pipe, but still have my stock gs-r muffler... is the type-r piping better than the gs-r piping? the header and the cat any different too?? it should be better, right?

I'm not really sure if the USDM ITR B-pipe matches up to the USDM GSR axle back section. It might, I'm just not sure though.

And even if it does, you won't experience much if any gains since the ITR piping is 2 1/4" and the GSR piping is near 1 3/4" to 2 " in many sections. So you'll be going from a larger diameter pipe to a smaller one and will create turbulance at the flange.

The USDM ITR is one heavy MoFo as well and is a 4-2-1 cast exhaust manifold. It is not what ITR owners keep. We sell these lead weights and get the JDM 4-1 header for better weight advantage and performance gains. OR save a bit and get an even better designed header.

If you want a good quiet exhaust, then get the ITR B-pipe and axle back section.

Good luck,

A.

Yeah the USDM Type R header is almost the same as the GS-R one, I believe the only difference is a straighter/less curved 2-1 junction. I saved 16lbs by switching from my stock header to a DC stainless 4-2-1 2-pc. by the way... That's a lot of weight that didn't need to be sitting way out in front of the front axle.
