the LS engine has lower compression and may be easier to tune down the road becuase it does not have a vtec head. with an LS block, you could slap on a GSR or b16 vtec head, and still turbo and if done correctly can yeild some pretty high gains.... i believe there is some people running extreme amounts of boost on the stock LS block&head, all because of fine tuning. please go to the TURBO forum, and look around or search...this question is covered about once every 3 days.....

lastly i was in your same position before, but then i realized:

$3k = jdm gsr motor, 180hp

or

$3k = (revhardII plus most components) on LS motor = 225hp@8psi

go with the LS motor, and build your bottom end, then boost away.... remember, HP #'s do not nessecarily translate into lower 1/4 times....

I'd go for the LS but don't do the "GHETTO" setup because of even greater reliability issues, just save up some more money and buy a good quality turbo that would be more reliable.

Thumbs up OR Turbo a GSR like I did'

Runs great and VTEC+Boost = RUSH!!!! Great streetable turbo kit and I am happy w/ the car.

Good luck!

Mark

W/ higher compression like the GSR ya don't need to boost as high, more hp already there' Good luck! I am @ 7psi currently stock internals, just the RH stage 2 kit ' Plan on $3k range for Turbo'

Turbo that beeyotch :-D I'm in the process of turboing my LS right now, just take your time and buy it piece by piece with a lot of research backing your decisions. In the end, you'll whoop on GS-Rs and Type Rs that aren't boosted and you'll hang with most of em that are :-D

for all of you running turbo set ups...

what kind of fuel management are you running and how has it worked for you... good/bad/ ugly...

i live in alberta and up here the highest octane available is 92 at some stations and 91 at others. what octane do you guys run and with how much boost. i'd be looking to run stock internals...
